yearning for something bigger than vanilla Oreo cookies
crunchy before they hit the milk.
I am acid reflux in a tummy
overdosing on Coke's brown burn.
I am ready, but tethered;
mouthy and all eyes.
Listening to the thunder
that blends little girl dirt under big toes
with a Grown Woman groove, but
she still needs that sock monkey
under her arm.
I am here, but will soon be there; flesh and photo; girl and woman.
Come and go,
but don't forget to wipe your feet on the mat.
